Knauf Insulation, a global leader in insulation products with more than 40 years of experience and 35,00 employees Knauf insulation is one of the fastest growing and reputable names of insulation worldwide. An energy efficient and sustainable company for homes and industrial products.
Insulation
is one of the main contributors to maintaining a comfortable environment in a
building all year round, enabling protection against the cold and heat. Knauf
Insulation has various products designed for each area allowing for a
sustainable home/building.
Rock Mineral Wool
Rock Mineral wool
is created by spinning molten rock and minerals. Pressed into rolls and sheets,
stone wool creates an extremely efficient insulation with sound-absorbing and
fire-resistant properties. It installs like any batt insulation in
the wall cavity, but it can be either flexible or rigid, providing a full scale
of solutions to match your needs.
Rock Mineral
wool insulation is an insulator that is commonly used in the construction
industry as its one of the most efficient forms of insulation. Other benefits
include it being a poor thermal conductor meaning it will prevent heat from
escaping, and it also has excellent flame-resistant properties. Rock Mineral
wool insulation could also be used to control and enhance the acoustic
performance levels of a building.
What is Rock Mineral wool used for?
Rock Mineral wool is a widely used product that is used for:
• Insulating walls (timber frame construction)
• Insulation of cavity walls and exterior walls
• Insulation of attic floors
• Insulation of pitched roofs and flat roofs
Properties and advantages
• Good thermal conductivity and acoustic insulation
• A cheaper form of Insulation
• Rock Mineral Wool insulation is not flammable
• The material always and constantly maintains its insulating properties
• Rock Mineral wool does not absorb moisture, because of which it is
resistant to moulds
• The material is completely recyclable
Glass
Mineral wool insulation
Glass Mineral wool insulation is perhaps the most used type of insulation installed
today. It is made by heating glass and sand to about 15000c causing
the mixture to melt. This is then spun at high speed to form fibres, which are
then stuck together using a resin binder, creating a thick web of fibres that
is highly flexible and resembles sheep’s wool. As an insulator, glass mineral wool
works to trap air and slow the transfer of heat. In most cases, glass wool
comes in a blanket form (called batts), but it’s also available as loose-fill.
Glass
Mineral wool comes in rolls that can simply be unrolled between joists,
making it very easy to install. It has good insulating properties, helping
to keep heat in during the winter and heat out during the summer. Made from
recycled glass and sand, glass wool is a natural fire retardant that poses
little to no fire hazard. There are also glass wool materials that are treated
with a fire retardant to improve the level of safety.
